1649 - AS400 Developer -

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES OF POSITION: To create and modify computer programs that effectively respond to the needs of the Company. MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Analyzes a business function or need and develops a written specification for systems enhancement.
2. Writes and tests programs that support and enhance the Company’s business functions.
3. Trains end-users and responds to their questions and brings user problems to resolution.
4. Reviews programming written by programmers to ensure changes are properly tested and meet the stated requirements before the programming is implemented. Assists with system and programming language questions as required.
5. Develops, maintains and updates system auditing procedures to protect data integrity and reliability.
6. Evaluates, identifies and recommends improvements in data processing operations and services as appropriate.
7. Supervises and manages support personnel as it relates to all projects or related work, establishes performance requirements, clarifies responsibilities of those supervised, conducts performance appraisals and plans for individual employee improvement.
8. Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinates and communicates plans and activities with others, as appropriate to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
9. Performs related work as apparent or assigned.

• • Current thorough knowledge of technical skills as they relate to objectives of position.
• Thorough knowledge of Company policies and procedures as they relate to programming.
• Demonstrated ability to keep up-to-date on new software/hardware technology and other advancements relating to the state of the art.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively develop, write, and test programs.
• Ability to effectively work with operators, end users and others
• Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Solid experience in system design and analysis.
• Must have experience with AS400 (iSeries) Application Development Skills, RPG 400. This is an opportunity to learn RPG ILE, CL, SQL, Lotus Notes, Trusted Link EDI, Java Script, Store Procedures, SAS preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of customers, Company personnel, and others.
