The IT Applications Manager provides day-to-day direction and support to our Digital Platform team and resources. Primary responsibilities include resource planning, staff development, overall development oversight. This position will work closely with IT functional managers, infrastructure managers, and QA managers. This position will work closely with marketing and e-commerce managers. This position will influence technical design, work prioritization, and adherence to development methodologies.
Responsibilities: • Leads and manages the development and implementation of large and complex business applications for core business processes. Provides oversight and leadership to manage multiple complex projects and programs that deliver high quality systems on-schedule, on-budget, to the committed scope.
• Provides leadership and vision to Business Unit management to identify strategic directions requiring systems solutions, defines business application requirements, and delivers system and process solutions for those requirements.
• Provides leadership and direction for a team of five to fifteen project application programming team developing, enhancing, and maintaining core business applications.
• Works closely with IS management, Line of Business Sponsor, and Project Office, on project approval, priority setting, coordinating resources and schedules.
• Defines and communicates direction for members of the application programming team.
• Responsible for the stability, quality, maintenance and enhancements of core business applications for the functional business areas assigned.
• Provides strategic and business leadership with regard to the development of core application systems, and works closely with others in Application Development and Technical Support to ensure the developed application integrates smoothly with existing systems.
• Ensures detailed documentation of applications prior to development and following implementation of the application into productions status.
• Follows the development methodology, ensuring proper implementation and adoption by the application support team and end users.
• Performs the role of liaison and advocate for the assigned line of business to translate business needs into IS initiatives.
• Develops system and process strategies, defines projects, and negotiates project priorities and timelines with the line of business.
• Own relationship with third party implementation and support vendors.
• Completes projects, tasks, and activities within or under budget
Requirements: • 8 plus years of experience in the IT industry
• 6-8 years of application development and application integration experience
• 3-5 years of experience Managing application development teams
• Experience with web platforms (e.g. ATG, Hybris)
• Retail and/or B2C as well as digital marketing are highly desirable
• Some experience with Java and OO Design desired
• Knowledge of PCI requirements and standards (OWASP) desired
• SOA experience desired
• 1-2 years of project management
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, Master’s degree desired
• Minimal travel. Extended weekend and evening work may be required for production support, during implementations and to meet project deadlines
